Not just a stop over
I recently moved from a town called Coffs Harbour where I spent 2 years living and working. For those of you who don't know where that is, it is approximately 600 Kilometers north of Sydney, Australia on the New South Wales mid-north coast. While I was there I not only got into doing quite a lot of SCUBA diving I also took the opportunity to become a PADI SCUBA Diving Instructor. While I was doing this I spent a large portion of my time socialising with the multitude of backpackers who came through the area planning on staying only a day on their way north to the Gold Coast or heaven forbid 'Byron Bay'. It was these young people who made up the bulk of who we dealt with at Jetty Dive Centre.
Many of them came with no knowledge of what Coffs Harbour had to offer and had been recommended there by people they had met on the road. Now with many places to stay available in Coffs many we found had been recomended to the Aussitel Backpackers Hostel because of the friendly people who run the place. As well as the great atmosphere that abounds there. This is not to take away from the other hostels in the area, Barracuda's and the YHA and the Plantation Hotel are all good. It is only that I made so many friends by being associated with the Aussitel that I am a little biased.
It may come off sounding a little arrogant however it is a simple fact that quite often we would ask our students and the people who satyed at the Aussitel why they had chosen there to stay. Their answers were quite often the same, they had met people on the road who had enjoyed their stay so much that they would come back without a second thought, they would also quite often say that while in Coffs they had also learned to dive at Jetty Dive Centre and they had loved it. Many of these backpackers decided that they would come and see what it was like.
Of the many people who only planned to stay for a night or two many stayed on for a week to do their Open Water Diver Certification. After they had finished their course being the brilliant people we are we would take them out to the local, which is the Peir Hotel and the Coffs Hotel in my humble opinion, and proceed to get them completely obliterated. With their consent of course.
Because they were so hungover they would stay on another day or two and because they enjoyed it so much they would do it again.
Many also enjoyed the diving and the atmosphere so much they would come back and do their Divemaster courses with us. Aside from this they would also go white water rafting, skydiving, horse riding and countless other activities that are available within the area.
To those who have graced our shores please come back and I know that no matter where I go in the world Coffs Harbour will always be a place that I will go back to for the people who live and work there and those who pass through.
For those of you who are keen to learn to dive I can promise you will enjoy it if you do so with Mike and Debbie and the team at Jetty Dive and you can't go wrong staying at the Aussitel Backpackers Hostel run by Mark and Tracy Halling.
Cheers Guys

Nano Superlattice Technology Inc. (OTCBB Symbol: NSLT) is a nanotechnology company engaged in the coating of tools and components with nano structured PVD coatings for high-tech industries.
Nano utilizes Arc Bond Sputtering and Superlattice technology to apply multi-layers of super-hard elemental coatings on an array of precision products to achieve a variety of physical properties. The application of the coating on industrial products is designed to change their physical properties, improving a product's durability, resistance, chemical and physical characteristics as well as performance. Nano's super-hard alloy coating materials were especially developed for printed circuit board drills in response to special market requirements
The cutting of circuit boards causes severe wear on the cutting edge of drills and routers. With the increased miniaturization of personal electronics devices the dimensions of holes and cut aways are currently less than 0.2 mm. Nano coats tools with an ultra thin coating (only a few nanometers in thickness) of nitrides which can have a hardness of up to half that of diamond. This has proven to increase tool life by almost ten times. Nano plans to continue research and development into these techniques due to the vast application range for this type of nanotechnology
We believe that Nano is a company on the move. With todays steady move towards miniaturization we feel that Nano is a company with the right product at the right time. It is our opinion that an investment in Nano will produce great returns for our readers.
